India's leading battery manufacturer aimed to decipher the Market Operating Price (MOP) across diverse segments, including private and commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, e-rickshaws, inverters, and tractors.
Solution
Given the sensitivity surrounding MOP information, a meticulous approach was required. A pilot project was launched in 9 Indian cities, focusing on 49 SKUs to gather initial insights. Upon successful validation by the company's research team, the study escalated to encompass 45 cities, analysing a vast list of 260 SKUs across seven categories. For each SKU, the MRP and MOP of three competing brands were meticulously documented in each city, including prices with and without exchange offers. This extensive data was then cross-verified with the company's local teams for accuracy and relevance.
Impact This comprehensive analysis offered the battery giant a granular view of the pricing landscape, enabling a refined approach to its pricing strategy. The findings illuminated city-wise competition dynamics and SKU-specific market dominance, providing a robust foundation for informed decision-making.
